Donavan Mcnabb Trade

When Dan Snyder fired General Manager Vinnie Ceratto last December & hired Bruce Allen to replace him then they fire Head Coach Jim Zorn & replace him with Mike Shanahan to be the new Head Coach/Head of Football Operations it sent a signal to Redskins fans as well as the NFL as a whole that there was a new day in Washington & they were doing away with the past because it wasn't working & they were going to break from the past & change the ways they did business.

The Redskins during the Snyder Management have had a history of trading away the future with draft picks & giving up on players too soon. The Brad Johnson deal in 2001 letting him go to Tampa where he leads them to a SB in 2002 comes to mind, letting Stephen Davis go to Charlotte in 2003 where he leads them to a SB in 2003 etc. They've also had a bad history of signing players who are past their primes where they could of used that money somewhere else where the deal doesn't work out & they wind up getting released or traded. Signing Bruce Smith, Andre Reed, Irving Fryar, Jeff George all in 2000 come to mind. So when Mr Snyder hires Bruce Allen & Mike Shanahan to take over, it looked like a major change was in place & the Redskins were going to change the way they did business for the better.

But then Sunday Night  the Redskins trade 33 year old who will be 34 in November Veteran, Aging, Beat Up & less Mobile Eagles QB Donavan Mcnabb to be the our new starting QB & apparently have given up on young, talented, & a good QB in Jason Campbell who might make the Pro Bowl this season while Donavan Mcnabb is on IR because the Redskins with their current OL won't be able to protect him. The last 2 seasons Jason Campbell played 32 games & got sacked over 80 times. Donavan Mcnabb at this point of his career won't be able to stand up to that kinda of punishment. In 2009 despite playing for a 4-12 team he still threw for over 3400 yards & 20 TDS. The last 2 seasons even though the Redskins didn't play well Offensively I developed more respect for him just to be able to survive what he went through physically as well as personally through his own Club & Fans & now he'll have the chance to play for a team & city that respects him. Jason Campbell didn't need a Agent the last 2 years but a Personal Injury Attorney for the type of punishment he was put through.

The Donavan Mcnabb deal doesn't look like "change we can believe in" to me  "but more of the same" but as a Redskins fan I hope it works out & would love to be proven wrong.
